Pet Parasite Prevention
Parasites like fleas, ticks, and roundworms used to be considered a nuisance, now we have information that parasites can cause serious illness and even death in pets. Ticks can transmit infections like Lyme disease, and fleas can transmit tapeworms and Bartonella the bacteria that causes cat-scratch fever in humans. Even mosquitoes can transmit heartworm to your pets – living in your pet’s lungs and heart, causing severe damage and sometimes even death. Roundworms and hookworms can also threaten pets and can even be transmitted to humans. Sadly, your pet cannot tell you when they have a parasite. These nasty things can hide under fur and make themselves very hard to find. In fact, many pets don’t show any signs of illness at all.
The best veterinarian we have ever had! We moved away and still come here because no other vet in a 200km radius can come close to the quality and service we get from here. Hands down the best. Thank you for all you have done for Sophie and Newman! It’s worth the drive to have this peace of mind.

Our office offers a number of tests for parasites in your pet, in addition to physical exams. Speak with our team to discuss medications and preventative measures to keep your pets safe from all types of parasites. Preventing parasites help not only your pets but also other (human) family members. We want to make sure everyone under your roof is staying as healthy as possible.
In the long run, you’ll want to stick to a parasite testing and examination schedule as well as what to look for at home in-between visits. We can recommend a program for parasite testing, discuss what signs of parasites you can find at home, review ways to control parasites in and around your home, discuss treatment options if your pet has parasites, and recommend ways to monitor and prevent parasites in the future.
