Adopting A Pet

The Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society has a HUGE assortment of cats, kittens and dogs just waiting to find forever homes. Our goal is to find the best possible home for each of our pets and in the interest of both pets and adopters, we reserve the right to select the most appropriate home. To ensure the best possible match, the KWHS asks that all members of the family be present for the adoption visit. Please be aware that you may be have a 10-20 minute wait due to the large number of adoptions we complete each month.

Pet Poison Hotline

The Farley Foundation

The Farley Foundation is a registered Canadian charity that assists low-income pet owners by subsidizing the non-elective/emergency veterinary medical care of their beloved pets. Veterinary practices with at least one OVMA member may choose to apply for funding on behalf of clients when the pet owner is unable to pay for necessary treatment (pet owners who don’t have any other means with which to pay for treatment). An existing veterinary-client-patient-relationship (VCPR) is required. Pet owners who cannot afford medical care for their sick or injured pet, and who fall into one of the categories listed, are encouraged to talk to us about the availability of Farley Foundation funding: Seniors receiving the Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS). Disabled individuals receiving the Ontario Disability Support Payment (ODSP) or the Canada Pension Plan Disability Payment (CPP Disability). Individuals receiving assistance through the Ontario Works Program. Persons with an annual income of less than $25,000.
